January 6, 2014 when I left Angsana Velavaru, and moving to
another new assigned site. It was on January 7, when I started my duty in
Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru. It was my first
time to be in this resort after more than two months stay in Angsana
Velavaru. I still miss Velavaru with all
my friends and happy memories we have shared.
Then I met my
colleague who is already a Professional Photographer in Philippines. It is my
first time to work with him. I told to myself, "This guy is a serious
and strict man". And yes indeed, my intuition is always correct. (yeah
maybe in some instances).
He popped a question
I won't ever forget was, "Do you have concern in terms of sales?".
And replied back, "Yes". (The rest is history).
He taught me
everything from camera, the process and
system in Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru, and
the island itself. After 2-3 days in Vabbinfaru, I went to Angsana Ihuru (these 2 island resorts are just near to each
other). We worked as a team. He guided me to the right track
(sometimes he gets mad at me, coz I am stubborn and my stupidity in other
things as far as job is concern).
Within 2-months
working in two resorts (Ihuru and Vabbinfaru), we have ups and downs. Conflicts
will be always there. Contradicting ideas, pride, and indifferences are the
main reasons why I and my colleague fought with each other. But at the end of
the day after duty, we compromise.
He is not only
a colleague to me, but a good friend, adviser,
and mentor. During my 2-months
stay in Vabbinfaru-Ihuru, I learned a lot not only in terms of Photography. He
enlightened me to the word of God. Though I practice Roman Catholic teachings, listening to the sermon of a Priest is not enough.
He re-direct me
to the Bible, and shared some Bible
verses to my withered soul. From that
very moment, I knew the Holy Spirit is guiding us.
It was February
27, when I left Vabbinfaru-Ihuru and moved to Kuredu Island Resort. I was sad leaving the resort and saying goodbye to all good friends and to
my mentor.
God wants
me to be matured and tough enough that's why I was being transferred to a far
flung Island Resort.
Many things
happened in Kuredu Island Resort. After
1-month stay in that resort, I was
assigned in Jumeirah Vittaveli. Never in
my wildest dream that I can be a leader who will lead the group.
Then there was
a big event in Jumeirah, actually a wedding ceremony with group of people as
invitees. I asked my District Manager that I need help regarding this event.
That was the
time when my Boss uttered the name of my
mentor. He was working then in Paradise Island Resort after some changes
and re-shuffle of staffs. The rest is history again.
It is a great
experience and opportunity to be re-united again with my mentor. Every wedding
ceremony that Jumeirah Vittaveli has, he
is always the lead professional photographer and I am the shadow behind the
scenes. So far, I am learning from it.
I am thankful
for his patience and keen understanding though sometimes he gets irritated
easily. We jive in one common interest
which is photography.
Look up! As Mr. Angelo Ongchua, lead photographer, guides the bride |
